Tower of Power: Great American Soulbook (CD)

Great American Soulbook, released in 2009 by the American funk and soul veterans Tower of Power, is a tribute to legendary soul classics, with the album's 12 tracks featuring the band's signature big, dynamic horn section sound. The album was produced by Emilio Castillo and George Duke, and features notable guest vocalists such as Tom Jones on "I Thank You", Joss Stone on the duets "It Takes Two" and "(Heaven Must Have Sent) Your Precious Love", Sam Moore on "Mr. Pitiful", and Huey Lewis on the track "634-5789". It also includes hit interpretations of well-known songs like "Me & Mrs. Jones" as well as a high-energy James Brown tribute medley, "Star Time".
