Sonny Rollins: There Will Never Be Another You (SECOND-HAND LP)

Sonny Rollins' 1965 live album There Will Never Be Another You is an exceptional piece of jazz history, as it was recorded live during a rainy outdoor concert in the sculpture garden of New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and officially released 13 years later in 1978. The album showcases Rollins with his tenor saxophone at the peak of his creativity and energy, backed by a top-tier trio: pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and pianists/drummers Billy Higgins and Mickey Roker, who alternated during the performance. Although Rollins himself was initially dissatisfied with the sound due to tuning issues caused by the weather and tried to block its release, the album is now highly acclaimed by critics as a masterful and intense document of the hard bop era, capturing Rollins' long, virtuosic, and completely improvised interpretations of familiar jazz standards.
