Pekka Streng: Kesämaa (LP-vinyl)

Kesämaa (1972) is the swan song of singer-songwriter Pekka Streng, released in December just over a year before his passing from cancer, featuring bright, fairytale-like, and spiritual lyrics that explore mortality, nature, and mysticism. Backed by musicians from the progressive rock band Tasavallan Presidentti and other top jazz-influenced players, the album was created in close collaboration with producer Atte Blom, blending delicate folk expressions with acoustic atmospheres and complex progressive arrangements. The iconic cover art—a paradise-like beach landscape painted by Streng's sister, Sonja Streng—perfectly complements the album's timeless, utopian atmosphere that continues to resonate across generations.
