*The Ultimate Sin* is the fourth studio album by heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne; originally released in 1986, it is the basis for this 1995 remastered CD edition. The album was a commercial success, achieving double-platinum status in the United States, and is particularly remembered for the smash hit "Shot in the Dark" - co-written with bassist Phil Soussa, as well as guitarist Jake E. Lee’s distinctive, technically proficient guitar work. Although the album charted well and features strong anti-war and anti-nuclear themes in tracks like "Killer of Giants," Osbourne himself has later criticized its somewhat pop-oriented production—typical of the 1980s—which is why it was excluded from official reissues for a long time.
