Mikko Innanen & Mika Kallio: Silence (CD

The album Silence (2009) by saxophonist Mikko Innanen and drummer Mika Kallio is an intimate and profound duo recording that explores silence, space, and minimalist soundscapes. Released by Fiasko Records, the album strips the long-standing collaboration between these two Finnish jazz icons down to its essence, as saxophones, drums, bells, and miscellaneous small objects engage in a highly nuanced dialogue. Across eleven tracks, the record moves subtly between composed themes and fully free improvisation, creating a hypnotic and calming musical journey.
