Meriheini Luoto - Talven uneen vaipuen

Awake Percussion, Luoto luonnos, Saxtronauts and Signe join forces on an album featuring strings, wind instruments, human voices and percussion performed by a 16-piece ensemble. The work continues Luoto's characteristic compositional style in terms of aesthetics - the multi-hued tones of acoustic instruments create imaginative soundscapes that are worth stopping to admire.

The work, which was performed as a venue-specific concert in January 2024, was met with rave reviews. On the album, the entire work sounds more intimate than before and utilizes different perspectives. The landscapes of the mind and winter alternate and invite the listener on a journey through the winter season, where frost is pounding, wind is drizzling and ice is cracking at its joints.

The bands involved represent the pinnacle of Finnish contemporary/jazz/folk music and have received numerous awards for their work.
