Lundgren, Jan - Into the Night

What fascinates me about jazz is how amazing things can arise when forced by circumstances rather than planned.

The drummer who was supposed to perform as part of a trio with Jan Lundgren at the Ystad Jazz Festival in Sweden had to cancel his performance due to the pandemic, forcing Lundgren to rethink the gig. The pianist, who is also the festival's artistic director, quickly realized that things could work without a drummer. By chance, the name Emile Parisien came to mind... and a new trio was born. The three musicians had never played together in this configuration before, so after just one day of rehearsal, the band took to the festival's main stage on August 1, 2020. Their performance was quite brilliant.
