Jyrki 69 & Pekko Käppi: Wirsiä (LP-vinyl)

Jyrki 69 & Pekko Käppi - Wirsiä (Hymns) is an exceptional collaboration album released in autumn 2024, where The 69 Eyes gothic rock vocalist Jyrki 69 and bowed lyre (jouhikko) master Pekko Käppi dress the Finnish hymn tradition in a hypnotic, dark, and primitive blues style. This 12-track album, released on vinyl (LP) and digitally, combines beloved classics—such as Suvivirsi (The Summer Hymn) featuring a children's choir, and Soi kunniaksi Luojan composed by Jean Sibelius—with the artists' own new compositions based on Biblical texts, backed by the raw sound of the jouhikko, pump organ, cello, and double bass.
