Emily: No Prisoner Be is a six-part song cycle by contemporary American composer Kevin Puts, based on the poems of Emily Dickinson, which had its world premiere in Baltimore in the autumn of 2023. The piece was commissioned for star soprano Joyce DiDonato and the genre-defying, Grammy-winning string trio Time for Three, who interpret Dickinson's texts with passion and virtuosity on the album published by the Platoon record label. The composition combines classical vocal tradition, modern string energy, and elements of bluegrass and jazz, creating a profound and dynamic musical portrait of the esteemed poet's inner world.
