The handbook Klassinen musiikki, edited by John Burrows, is a visually stunning and comprehensive reference book on Western art music that guides the reader through a thousand years of music history from the Middle Ages to the modern day. The original work was produced by the prestigious British publisher Dorling Kindersley (DK), and this 512-page nonfiction book was published in Finnish by WSOY. The Finnish translation was done by Saana Ala-Antti and Mirja Kytökari, who rendered the book's extensive musicological vocabulary into fluent Finnish. The book presents more than 300 major composers with their biographies, key instruments, and listening recommendations and album tips for both beginners and experienced music lovers in an easily accessible format.
