Jenni Vartiainen's 2007 debut album, Ihmisten edessä, was a massive success that launched the former Gimmel member straight into the front rank of Finnish solo artists. The album easily surpassed the platinum sales mark (selling over 60,000 copies), and its title track became a major pop phenomenon and radio hit, winning Song of the Year at the Emma Awards.
