Janne Mertanen: World premiere recording of Joonas Kokkonen's piano works

Joonas Kokkonen's (1921-1996) compositional art began with the recording of improvisations during his school days.
Some of the works on this album represent a time when Kokkonen had not yet had his first piano lesson. He only received his first lessons in the autumn of 1940 at the Sibelius Academy as a student of Ilmari Hannikainen.
