Charlie Parker’s One Night in Birdland is a historic double live album released in 1977, capturing a unique and intense club performance by the pioneers of bebop jazz in New York City in May 1950. Originally recorded privately with amateur equipment, the recording holds exceptional musical value as one of the few surviving documents of Parker playing alongside the brilliant trumpeter Fats Navarro, who tragically passed away from tuberculosis just a week later. Although the sound quality of the release is raw and bootleg-like, the incredible energy, virtuosic solos, and rare interpretations—such as Parker's only recorded version of the standard 'Round Midnight'—by the all-star lineup of Parker, Navarro, pianist Bud Powell, and drummer Art Blakey make it an invaluable piece of jazz history.
