Tár (Music From & Inspired By The Motion Picture) is a concept album tied to the drama film directed by Todd Field, released on vinyl in January 2023 by Deutsche Grammophon. Rather than being a traditional soundtrack, it mirrors the creative process of the fictional conductor Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) and features Hildur Guðnadóttir's acclaimed electronic score alongside excerpts from Gustav Mahler’s 5th Symphony and Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto. The recordings include Blanchett herself conducting rehearsals with the Dresden Philharmonic, as well as performances by young cello talent Sophie Kauer and the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO), blurring the line between the real world and the film's fiction.
