Beethoven, Ludwig van - Symphony No.3 (Eroica) & Metamorphosen

This live recording of Strauss' Metamorphosen and Beethoven's Eroica Symphony marks the birth of Sinfonia Grange au Lac. The orchestra was founded in July 2018 in connection with the Rencontres Musicales d'Évian, a prestigious festival founded by Mstislav Rostropovich in 1985 and revived in 2014. Sinfonia Grange au Lac is a musical ambassador whose mission is to promote the excellence of its home festival worldwide. It is composed of musicians from leading European orchestras (in Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Leipzig, London, Lucerne, Munich, Paris, Salzburg, Valencia, and Vienna) and existing ensembles such as Trio Karénine and Quatuor Ébène. It was brilliant to get Esa-Pekka Salonen on board. The brilliant Finn became a passionate supporter of the project, checking the list of members one by one. He told Diapason magazine: “Our work together helped me understand what drove Claudio Abbado when he founded the Lucerne Festival Orchestra: the joy of working with hand-picked musicians and making music in a fresh way.”
