Arnold Schönberg: Pelleas und Melisande, Edgar Varese: Amériques

This avant-garde CD album, released by Budapest Music Center Records, features two major modern orchestral works from the early 20th century: Arnold Schoenberg's symphonic poem Pelleas und Melisande, Op. 5, and Edgard Varèse's experimental large orchestral work Amériques. Conducted by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Zoltán Kocsis, these complex works, which together last approximately 59 minutes, demonstrate the development of orchestral music from traditional late Romanticism towards a modern, atonal and experimental soundscape.
