Outi Tarkiainen’s acclaimed classical music album The Earth, Spring's Daughter / Saivo (2020) is a powerful collaboration between the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, conductor John Storgårds, and soloists Virpi Räisänen and Jukka Perko, drawing its inspiration from Northern nature and Sámi culture. Released by the Ondine record label, the album features Tarkiainen's breakthrough work, a six-part song cycle based on Sámi poetry titled The Earth, Spring's Daughter, alongside the mystical saxophone concerto Saivo, which explores themes of the afterlife. The compilation received widespread international praise and was honored with the prestigious Emma Award for Best Classical Album in 2021.
