New and Award-Winning Orchestral Music
The album features a diverse selection of orchestral works by both Matvejeff and Järventausta. Matvejeff’s Violin Concerto premiered at the Helsinki Music Center in 2011 and is now featured on the album, performed by Petri Aarnio.
The album also features Matvejeff’s composition Seaside Rendezvous, which was commissioned by Jukka-Pekka Saraste to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.
From Joel Järventausta’s repertoire, the album includes his internationally acclaimed work Ripped Tapestry, which won the French Île de Créations composition competition in 2019.
The album’s title track is Järventausta’s piece Naava, which evokes the colors and darkness of the Finnish forest.
