Wennäkoski, Lotta - Sigla - Magen, Sivan

Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski (b. 1970) is one of Finland's most highly regarded composers of the last two decades. A consistent feature of Wennäkoski's music is its rich tonal palette, which is not limited to pitches but also includes noise when necessary. Her expression ranges from delicate lyricism to powerful outbursts. Her output is wide-ranging and includes orchestral music, vocal works, chamber music, and solo pieces. This, his second album released through Ondine, includes Wennäkoski's international breakthrough work, Flounce (2017), from the BBC's Last Night of the Proms program, performed by the Radio Symphony Orchestra and its new chief conductor Nicholas Collon. Wennäkoski's harp concerto Sigla, which premiered in 2022, was composed for harpist Sivan Magen.
