Ries, Ferdinand - Symphonies Nos. 6 & 7 - Nisonen, Janne

The final part of Ferdinand Ries’s (1784–1838) groundbreaking and highly acclaimed cycle of compositions, composed by Tapiola Sinfonietta and conductor Janne Nisosen, contains the composer’s two final statements on the symphony genre. Like most of Ries’s symphonies, his Sixth Symphony premiered in London in 1822. Composed ten years later, his Seventh Symphony remained in obscurity until its publication in 2004. Both works, however, are full of discoveries.
