McCartney, Paul : McCartney III

50 years after Paul McCartney released his debut solo album McCartney, on which Paul plays every instrument and writes and records every song, McCartney will release McCartney III on December 11. Paul had not planned to release an album in 2020, but in the isolation of "lockdown," he soon found himself complementing his existing musical personas and creating new ones. Soon, an eclectic collection of spontaneous songs became McCartney III: a stripped-down, self-produced, and literally solo work that marked the beginning of a new decade, honoring the traditions of the 1970s McCartney and 1980s McCartney II. Recorded earlier this year in Sussex (UK), McCartney III consists mainly of Paul's live recordings on vocals and guitar or piano, with his bass, drums, etc. overdubbed. McCartney III covers a wide and intimate range of styles and moods, from soulful and wistful to playful and boisterous, and everything in between – the audio recordings were made in part using the same equipment at Paul's Rude Studio that was used for the 1971 Wings sessions.
