Martinaityte, Zibuokle - Ex Tenebris Lux - Vaitkevicius, Rokas

This second Ondine recording by ?ibuokle Martinaityt? (b. 1973) is devoted exclusively to works composed for string orchestra, all of which were written in the last three years. The works are performed by the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, one of Lithuania's most internationally renowned orchestras, conducted by Karolis Variakojis. Martinaityte, who lives in New York, has begun to gain recognition both in the United States and throughout Europe. Her orchestral work Saudade was recently performed at a New York Philharmonic concert. Martinaityte continues to refine her carefully crafted compositions. Her compositions are inspired by both the external natural world and internal psychological dimensions, but they are all filtered through her desire to create music that is, above all, beautiful.
