Julia Hülsmann Quartet - The Next Door

Julia Hülsmann returns with the quartet from her 2019 album Not Far From Here on her new album The Next Door, showcasing her unique pianistic voice in a diverse program consisting almost exclusively of original compositions by herself and her colleagues – tenor saxophonist Uli Kempendorff, double bassist Marc Muellbauer, and drummer Heinrich Köbberling. A deep respect for the jazz traditions cultivated in the post-bop and modal jazz of the 1960s permeates this session, and with a modern twist, the quartet creates the basis for a continuum of highly expressive solos and profound interaction.
