The Grammy-nominated Prism project by the Danish string quartet, which combines Bach's fugues, Beethoven's quartets, and works by later masters, is getting its fourth installment. The penultimate part of the series combines Bach's fugue in G minor from The Well-Tempered Clavier (arranged by Viennese composer Emanuel Aloys Förster) with Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 132 and Felix Mendelssohn's String Quartet No. 2 (composed in 1827). As Paul Griffiths notes in the liner notes, these pieces "sound even more remarkable thanks to the exceptional brilliance and precision of the Danish players." Recorded at the historic Reitstadel Neumarkt, the album is being released at a time when the Danish String Quartet is in the midst of an extensive tour of the United States and Europe.
