Beck Group, Jeff - There and Back

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Jeff Beck is one of the five greatest guitarists of all time and is often referred to as "the guitarist's guitarist." He is also one of three famous guitarists who have played in the legendary band The Yardbirds (the other two being Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page). Together with his long-time sparring partner Jan Hammer, Beck kicks off the album with Hammer's song "Star Cycle." Most of the songs are almost sci-fi instrumental rock songs with subtle jazz and blues nuances. Then there are more rocking instrumentals, such as "The Pump" and "The Golden Road." The closing track, "The Final Peace," was ahead of its time (1980) with its virtuoso guitar work, as we know it today from the work of Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, and Steve Vai.
