Bach, J S - The Well-Tempered Consort ? III - Phantasm

This is the third and final part of the Well-Tempered Consort series (5 Diapasons, Gramophone Editor's Choice, BBC Music Magazine's chamber orchestra selection). In a program designed by conductor Laurence Dreyfus, the viola consort Phantasm continues to shed new light on Bach's fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier, interspersed with some of the composer's most harmonically adventurous experiments from Clavierübung III. This polyphonic feast also includes two works from the Inventions and Sinfonias, as well as Fantasia in G major, BWV 572, sometimes referred to as Pièce d'orgue, which features an exceptional closing pedal point. A fitting end to a remarkable journey!
