The plot of Aida is full of political intrigue, love, betrayal, passion, and revenge, and has captivated audiences for generations. The opera debut of Turkish auteur director Ferzan Ozpetek undoubtedly aroused public interest. Ozpetek settled in Italy as a student and has become one of the most important directors in Italian cinema over the past decade. He has directed acclaimed films such as La finestra di fronte (Facing Windows) and Mine Vaganti (Loose Cannons).
