Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly – the composer's own favorite and certainly one of the most beloved operas in the repertoire – comes to life at the world-famous Arena di Verona. This magnificent production, directed by acclaimed film and opera director Franco Zeffirelli, features an outstanding cast of singers. Fiorenza Cedolins is the sought-after Butterfly, and her Pinkerton is played by renowned tenor Marcello Giordani. The famous opera baritone Juan Pons plays the principled American consul Sharpless. The performance is conducted by Daniel Oren, the long-time conductor of the Arena di Verona, who brings out all the splendor that Puccini's opera demands. The result is a magnificently sung musical experience.
