Quartet Ajaton has released their third album Fin 23.1.2026. The group's innovative musicians now delve into the core emotions of Finnish tradition: tangos, Sibelius and folk melodies breathe new life into bold and sophisticated interpretations.
Mia Simanainen, vocals Henrik Sandås, bandoneón Kari Ikonen, Moog synthesizer Aino Juutilainen, cello
Quartet Ajaton is a band founded by singer Mia Simanainen, in which highly innovative musicians from different backgrounds weave their skills together. The group's enigmatic combination of instruments is probably unique in the entire world! However, there is something familiar in the quartet's new program, which includes iconic tunes from our domestic culture - reinterpreted tangos, Sibelius, folk melodies and cattle cries echo, dance and roar - the music glows and freezes, and makes the listener's blood circulate. Quartet Ajaton is a stylistically independent trailblazer - it has inspired listeners with its music for over ten years, in addition to Finland, in England, Sweden, Estonia, Germany, Hungary and Russia.
The band's third full-length album, Fin, to be released in January, aptly emphasizes the music's domestic origins, especially during the Jazz Suomi 100 anniversary year. The songs will be sung in Finnish, Swedish and English. The band's previous releases are Elixir (Eclipse Music 2016) and Early Music in the Latest Way (Alba Records 2020). The album release concert will be held at the Sello Hall's warm club on Friday 30 January 2026 at 7 pm. The album release will also include concerts at the Oulu Music Festival on 14 March and on the Finnish Jazz Association tour from 4 to 8 May (including Tampere, Loimaa, Jyväskylä, Joensuu, Turku).
In addition to the CD format, the album will be released exclusively on "fair trade" streaming services, such as Bandcamp / Lingonperry / Fairmusic. It will NOT be released on Spotify, for example.
