The pillars of Spanish and South American guitar music in a rediscovered rare recording

In Prague, at the turn of September and October 1969, Supraphon's legendary Domovina studio was home to 37-year-old Konrad Ragossnig for four days. The guitarist was in top form; he had studied in Spain under Andrés Segovia, the "king of classical guitar," won the ORTF competition in Paris, and taught guitar at the Musik-Akademie in Basel and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He gave solo concerts and performed with orchestras throughout Europe, the United States, and the Far East. In addition to classical guitar, he had also mastered the Renaissance lute, at a time when interest in early music and its authentic interpretation was just beginning to reawaken in Western Europe. His chamber music partners included tenor Peter Schreier and flutist Hans Martin Linde.
