In Siegfried, the second day of the Ring tetralogy, or the third evening, we meet the central hero of this epic story. The energetic tone of Die Walküre continues in this part, as Siegfried finally recaptures the mighty ring from the dragon Fafner and awakens Brünnhilde from her punitive sleep on a large rock. Lance Ryan, who has performed this role on the world's greatest stages, including the Bayreuth Festival, plays the naive hero. His opponents are Peter Bronder, a brilliant and agile Mime, Terje Stensvold, an experienced Wanderer, and Johannes Martin Kränzle, who continues to play the role of the evil and deceitful Alberich. The female leads are Nina Stemme, once again unparalleled in the role of Brünnhilde, and Anna Larsson, the moving godmother Erda.
