Rachmaninov, Sergey - Piano Concertos Nos. 2 & 3 - Sudbin, Yevgeny

Yevgeny Sudbin has been recording Sergei Rachmaninoff's works for piano and orchestra for almost 10 years. The journey began in the United States in 2008 with his fourth piano concerto, described by Classic FM Magazine as a "brilliant recording" with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra conducted by Grant Llewellyn. Sudbin continued in Asia with the Paganini Variations and the First Piano Concerto, praising his collaboration with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lan Shui. Critics commented on the soloist's "transcendental virtuosity and kaleidoscopic color of the keys" (BBC Music Magazine) and enjoyed piano playing that had "depth, subtlety, and richness of texture, as well as sparkling dynamics combined with sharp lyrical sensitivity" (Gramophone).
