Lutoslawski, Witold - Concerto for Orchestra; Partita for Violin and Orchestra; Novelette - Tetzlaff, Christian

This new album continues Ondine's award-winning series of orchestral works by Witold Lutos?awski (1913–1994) and the Radio Symphony Orchestra. The series has garnered numerous awards, including a Grammy nomination, a BBC Music Magazine Award nomination, and several Record of the Month awards and nominations for Record of the Year. The album includes the composer's early hit, his folkloric masterpiece Concerto for Orchestra, which is one of his most frequently performed compositions. The album also includes Partita for Violin and Orchestra (with Christian Tetzlaff as soloist), a virtuosic five-movement work that, in its orchestral version, is quite similar to a violin concerto. A rarity on the album is Lutos?awski's Novellette from 1979, which, although fragmentary, already hints at the ideas of his Third Symphony.
