Janacek, Leos - On an overgrown path - Camerata Zürich

Leoš Janá?ek's 15-part piano cycle On an Overgrown Path is presented here in a new form, arranged for string orchestra and performed by Camerata Zürich under the direction of solo violinist Igor Karsk. This is the first recording of the orchestral arrangement. In this program, Janá?ek's cycle is complemented by Josef Suk's Meditation on the Old Czech Hymn to St. Wenceslas and Antonín Dvo?ák's Notturno – pieces that are thematically related to the folk tradition of Janá?ek's compositions. French writer Maïa Brami wrote poems for the new arrangement of On An Overgrown Path, and their recorded versions, recited by the author herself, are included on the album, contextualizing the cycle with inventive analogies to Janá?ek's life.
