David Chaillou writes about his new publication: “The word ‘legend’ brings to mind a distant, wonderful story that is reinvented every time it is told. There is no longer any present or past; we enter an imaginary and timeless infinite space. When composing Légendes, I wanted to create for the piano the same idea of blurring the gap between past and present and the freedom of imagination. The eleven pieces on this album are presented as an inner journey, a listening path that forms a kind of unspoken narrative thread. The illusions, reflections, and distortions played by Légendes were achieved with an intimate piano. The play of contrasts (distance and closeness, emptiness and fullness) and the approach to harmonic texture seek to create a new sound space that could be described as a spectral halo, and have masterfully brought out all their resonances.
